ᎪᎩ ᏳᎾᏛᏁᎵᏓᏍᏗ ᎠᎦᏛᏂᏓᏍᏗ ᎤᎾᏙᏢᏒᎢ

The mission of the Summer Career Exploration Program is to advance the knowledge and interests of 14 and 15-year-olds in the areas of careers, culture, and community.

The program takes students to various job sites and incorporates guest speakers and hands-on learning experiences. Examples of past program activities include: 

  • Tour of Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Clinic and presentations from various Doctors, Medical students, and Nurses
  • Tour the Performing Arts Center in Broken Arrow to see all the processes and jobs associated with a stage production
  • Tour the OSBI crime lab
  • Participate in Virtual Reality Career Demonstrations

This program will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the month of June - dates vary each summer.

Applications for Summer Career Exploration are available in March each year.  

Basic Eligibility Criteria 

  • Cherokee Nation citizen
  • 14-15 years of age
  • Must complete the application and have one letter of recommendation from a teacher or coach

 This is not a work program, but students do receive a daily stipend if accepted.
