This prehistoric water spider and hand design, as interpreted by our elders, represents how Cherokees received our First Fire.
The Cherokee Nation Community & Cultural Outreach Program is proud to announce the 12th Annual Conference of Community Leaders to take place June 3, and 4, 2016, to be held at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. We are bringing together Cherokee community leaders from the 14 county TJSA, as well as, satellite communities across the United States for two full days of learning, networking, and interaction.
We are hosting a lot of new content, this year. The conference consists of capacity building, cultural, and history & preservation sessions, led by professionals from all over the U.S. Several new topics will be available for participants. There are no limitations to the amount of organizational representatives that can attend. Keep in mind, however, that seating is limited per session and will be conducted on a first come, first serve basis. In addition we would like to encourage you to bring two (2) youth participants ages 14+ per organization to join you in this learning & leadership experience. CCO will provide meals during the duration of the day and will have many activities from which to choose.
We need your organization representatives who plan attending to register at our website www.cherokee.org/cco or on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cncco. Please, consider all information when selecting your representatives. Your representative(s) should be an involved decision-maker in your organization.
