The Cherokee Nation Self-Sufficiency Program is dedicated to building the assets of the Cherokee citizens by assisting participants create financial security through the implementation of Mortgage Assistance Program, iSave, foreclosure prevention services, homebuyers’ education classes and financial coaching.

With the help of the program, participants can realize the dream of home ownership, unlock the door to business development or achieve educational goals through budgeting, credit coaching and by establishing financial savings plans.

Mortgage Assistance Program
The Mortgage Assistance and Self Sufficiency programs allow Cherokee citizens to build and repair their credit and reach personal financial goals. The mortgage assistance program provides qualified Cherokee Nation citizens with down payment assistance up to $20,000. For more information please contact Cherokee Nation Commerce Services.

Homebuyers Education
The Homebuyers Education course helps citizens learn how to shop for a home, understand mortgages, credit reports and foreclosure prevention. Attendees will learn common terminology associated with home buying, costs associated with home ownership and how to avoid financial crises.

Cherokee Nation’s Individual Development Account (iSave) programs are designed to assist Cherokee citizens to save money and achieve long-term financial goals. If eligible, Cherokee citizens can save for home home rehabilitation. For every $1 a Cherokee citizen saves, Cherokee Nation iSave will match it with $3. Credit Coaching
Credit coaching is available in a private setting to help citizens repair their credit and reach financial goals. A credit coach will help citizens develop an action plan to reduce debt, repair credit, and increase income.

Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University is a 13-week course designed to help families get out of debt, stay out of debt and build wealth. This course provides citizens with information on how to control income to reach financial goals.
