TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Cherokee Nation hosts several events during the month of April, including jewelry classes with Wolf Walker at the Cherokee Arts Center and the 48th Annual Trail of Tears Art Show and Sale reception. See a complete list of calendar items below.
 
April 1
 
6 to 9 p.m. – Cherokee Arts Center hosts jewelry making with Wolf Walker at the center, located at 212 S. Water Ave. in Tahlequah. Cost is $35 per student. For more information, visit www.wolfwalkerjewelry.com/Tahlequah_classes.php.

8 a.m. to noon – Cherokee Nation’s W.W. Hastings Hospital hosts Great Expectations, an obstetrics care and education course. The course will be held in the Support Services Conference Room at the hospital, located at 100 S. Bliss Ave in Tahlequah. This event is free and includes information about delivering at the hospital and a free hospital tour. For more information, call the Women’s Clinic at 918-458-3502.

Cherokee Nation’s W.W. Keeler Complex, satellite offices and health centers will be closed in observance of Good Friday. Cherokee Nation W.W. Hastings Hospital urgent care and emergency department as well as other Cherokee Nation emergency services will remain open.

April 20
 
9:30 a.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts the 2019 Traditional Native Games at the Carl Albert State College, located at 1601 S. Opdyke Street in Sallisaw. This year’s events include chunkey, marbles, hatchet throwing, cornstalk shoot, horseshoes and blowguns. The event is free and open to the public, and registration for each event begins 30 minutes prior to the start. April 25
 
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts a blood drive with the Oklahoma Blood Institute at the Tsa La Gi Community Room, located behind the Restaurant of the Cherokees in Tahlequah. For more information, call 918-453-5000 ext. 5841.
 
April 26
 
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts an environmental festival at the Northeastern State University Event Center, located at 1041 N. Grand Avenue in Tahlequah. Participants will learn about the environment and have the opportunity to take part in a variety of hands-on activities. This event is free and open to the public. Noon to 3 p.m. – Cherokee Nation hosts the Cherokee Nation Safety Fair at One Fire Field, located west of the W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex in Tahlequah. The event includes a meet and greet with local law enforcement, firefighters and EMS professionals, as well as opportunities to learn about safety and best practices.  This event is free and open to the public. April 28
