TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Houston-based Stage Stores Inc. is sponsoring the 65th Cherokee National Holiday and recently presented the tribe with a $10,000 check.

“Stage Stores is honored to support the 65th Cherokee National Holiday,” said Russ Lundy, executive vice president of Stage. “Our company values our customers and supports the communities where our stores are located.”

This is the seventh year that Stage has been a sponsor of the Cherokee National Holiday. The Stage department store is located at 907 S. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah, the capital of the Cherokee Nation. There are more than 10 Stage Stores located in cities across the tribe’s 14-county jurisdiction.

“Stage Stores has been a great partner to Cherokee Nation for the past several years. The company’s contribution to our annual Cherokee National Holiday will again help ensure the more than 100,000 visitors we expect this year for the 65th annual homecoming will have a memorable time, as we all celebrate the culture, history and heritage of the Cherokee Nation,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker.

The Cherokee Nation has also partnered with Stage on back-to-school clothing vouchers and winter coat vouchers for income-eligible families. Over 6,000 Stage back-to-school clothing vouchers worth $100 each were issued to Cherokee children this summer.
