Zumbathon to benefit breast cancer support group

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. —The Cherokee Nation Cancer Program will co-host a Zumbathon on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Tahlequah to raise money for the Native American breast cancer support group.

The two-hour dance class will run from 2-4 p.m. in the Sequoyah Schools’ The Place Where They Play gymnasium.

“There will be seven different Zumba instructors coming together for this cause, and we will dance for two full hours. We’re hoping to have a really good turnout,” said Teresa Chuculate, a Cherokee Nation vocational rehabilitation counselor who is a certified Zumba instructor.

The Zumbathon is part of the Party in Pink initiative to not only bring awareness to breast cancer, but also raise funds for those groups fighting the illness. There is an $8 donation fee per participant.
