STILWELL, Okla. — The Cherokee Nation is sponsoring A Run for the Berries in Stilwell on Saturday, May 12, as part of the tribe’s Wings series of races.
“This annual race has been a great part of the Stilwell Strawberry Festival for many years,” said Charlie Stilwell, Cherokee Nation public health educator and race director. “Several hundred people enjoy the race each year as the beginning of festivities for the festival. We challenge everyone in the area to come out and participate by running or walking with us in this fun and healthy event.”
Participants can register early for $15 or for $20 on race day. Runners may register just north of CV’s IGA, 610 N. Second St., beginning at 6 a.m. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. The first 450 people to register receive a commemorative T-shirt. Go to steps.cherokee.org/Wings for a race form.
