Cherokee Nation Musician to Perform at Museum’s 40th Anniversary
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Well-known Cherokee Nation citizen and musician Tommy Wildcat will help the Five Civilized Tribes Museum celebrate its 40th anniversary in Muskogee by performing at 12 noon and again at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at this year’s Art Under the Oaks Indian Market and Festival.
Wildcat, famous for playing river cane flutes, won a NAMMY (Native American Music Award) for Indian Flutist of the Year in 2002. He released his first album in 1997. He has produced additional albums since then, and he and his twin sister Tammy have their own production company, Warrior Spirit Productions, in Park Hill.
Wildcat came to public attention for his native American-themed performances on such television networks as The Discovery Channel, AETN and TNT and in several feature films.
Wildcat is a graduate of Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah and lives in Park Hill.
