What is required for me to install to view the class?

Please see the system requirements.

I can see video but cannot hear audio.

It is possible that while the event video may be running, the audio may not have been turned on yet. Use the chat window to converse with other participants or contact an event administrator to confirm that audio is being sent and received by other participants.

If audio is running, make sure that your speakers or headphones are plugged in to your computer's sound card, and check the volume control if you have one. Then check your computer's volume controls and make sure "Mute" is not enabled.

I can hear audio but cannot see video.

Your connection speed may not be adequate to support both audio and video. Please check your internet connection and make sure there are no other problems running that could be using the internet.

The video cuts out, pauses or is choppy.

The media may have problems playing smoothly (or it may stop altogether) for any of the following reasons:

There is an interruption in your network connection. This can be a common occurrence with some connections (especially 56k modems), or just a momentary glitch. Test that your connection is available by going to another web page. If it's still available, the problem will probably clear up in time. If it doesn't try contacting your internet service provider for assistance.

You do not have enough bandwidth to handle the stream you are trying to play. Your computer cannot handle the stream. A system with slow hardware or insufficient physical RAM may have trouble doing the processing required to display the video.

The stream has a low frame rate, which can cause the video to appear to jump roughly from one still picture to another. A stream targeted to low-bandwidth users usually has a low frame rate, so you may be seeing the video correctly.

I cannot log into an event.

The login process is handled automatically for you. If for some reason you receive the message "You are not authorized for this event" please contact website@cherokee.org. Please include your username and what class you are enrolled in. Example: johndoe@johndoe.com and Cherokee 1B

I am repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting.

If you have logged into an event with the same username on two different machines on the same local network, the two machines will "fight" over the connection. When the second machine logs in, the server forces the first machine to log out, but that machine immediately logs in again, logging out the first machine, and so on.

Do I have to register with the website to register for class?

You will need to setup an account with the Cherokee.org website in order to sign up for the Online Language Classes. You will not need to register with the website again if you have already have an account setup with the Cherokee.org website.

How can I update my email address / username?

To update your email address you will need to login to the website with your old email address and password. After you are logged in click on "Change Email Address".

I have registered with the website but I can not log in. What is wrong?

If you have recently registered with the website but can not log in then your account might not be activated. When you registered you should have recieved an activation code in your email. If you did not recieve your activation or can not get your current code to work you can request a new activation code by requesting your password to be emailed to you and checking the Resend Activation Code check box.
