Tag Office

At-Large Motor Vehicle Registration

Proof of residence will not be required for citizens registering “At Large”, but must be a resident of Oklahoma. Citizens will be required to have a Valid Oklahoma drivers license.

Boat and Motor Registration

The Cherokee Nation can register and license your personal watercraft. In order to process your application you will need a title, serial number verification, bill of sale, drivers license, tribal citizenship card, proof of residency, lien information and a completed application.

Commercial Tags

Commercial trucks include pickups and other vehicles on a truck chassis and weigh less than 15,000 pounds.

Confidentiality

Information contained in Cherokee Nation Tax Commission vehicle/boat/outboard records are confidential under both federal and tribal rules and regulations.

Liens

To record a security interest on a newly purchased vehicle or a vehicle changing ownership, a secured party must complete and submit a CHEROKEE NATION LIEN ENTRY FORM along with the assigned Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (new vehicle) or title (used vehicle) and the lien filing fee.

Merchandise

Check out the merchandise that can be purchased from the Cherokee Nation Tag Office. The Tag Office sells auto shades, t-shirts and a novelty CN citizen license plate.

Military Service Tags

The Cherokee Nation holds veterans in high esteem. In recognition of their military service, honorably discharged tribal citizen veterans are eligible for special discounts on Cherokee Nation vehicle tags.

Motor Vehicle Registration

Cherokee Nation citizens living within the Cherokee Nation’s 14-county jurisdictional area may now purchase tribal car tags.

Personalized and Special Tags

Cherokee Nation citizens can obtain personalized and special license plate for their vehicles through the Cherokee Nation Tax Commission.

Physically Disabled Registration

Physically-disabled persons meeting certain requirements may qualify for free or reduced-rate vehicle tags.

The Cherokee Nation has tag offices in Tahlequah, Sallisaw, Adair, Collinsville and Jay.
