The Risk Pool policies provide basic coverage for the value of a dwelling and personal property. The policies are offered by Amerind Risk Management, established in the mid 1980's by Indian Housing Authorities from across the country. Amerind ofers affordable insurance to Cherokee citizens.

There are three policy limits, and each carries $10,000 in content coverage:
Up to 1400 sq. ft.  - $80,000
1401 - 1700 sq. ft. - 110,000
1701 - 2300 sq. ft. - 130,000

Mobile homes have an $80,000 limit and no coverate is offered for homes over 2300 sq. ft.

Cherokee citizens owning homes within the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional boundaries may qualify for the Community Shield program offered by Amerind, which has final approval for the homes seeking coverage.
