Language Technology

It has been said that the world's technology doubles every eighteen months. With this rapid development, staying up-to-date and informed on how these advances affect our lives is vital. The world's people are globalizing and interacting on a scale never seen before, and the Cherokee Nation is a part of this global community. The Language Technology program creates innovative solutions for the Cherokee language on all digital platforms including smartphones, laptops, desktops, tablets and social network media such as Facebook and Twitter. We are not only active members of the global community; we can now participate in our own language. The Cherokee Nation is offering a series of training sessions on the usage of the Cherokee syllabary with today’s technology. The training series, “Using Technology in a Cherokee Way,” provides an opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to use the syllabary in modern digital media technology. The sessions are offered on a monthly basis. All sessions will be held from 10 a.m. till noon in the Cherokee Nation’s Tribal Council Chambers, 17675 S. Muskogee Ave., in Tahlequah. The sessions are free and open to the public. As more sessions are scheduled, they will be posted on this page and on the community calendar. To schedule a session in your community or for more information contact the Cherokee Nation Language Technology Program, at 453-5000 or 1-800-256-0671.
