The Direct Employment Program provides financial assistance for persons who have located employment at least 50 miles from their residence and who need assistance to access that employment. This assistance may be in purchasing tools, moving expenses, transportation expense or living expenses until the first paycheck is received. The individual applying for Direct Employment must also be l/4 or more degree Indian of a federally recognized tribe and living within the 14 county area at the time the application for assistance is completed.. A letter stating the following information is required from the employer: Job Title, Beginning Wage, Date Started Work, First Payday, First Full Payday, Statement that job is anticipated to be of a permanent nature.
