These programs provide supportive services and/or assistance to pay for tuition fees, and books for students who are attending vocational training or two year colleges. Supportive services can include but are not limited to uniforms, tools, car repair, child care and other necessities.
Students are enrolled in a variety of trainings, including practical nursing, welding and business/office technology. Services provided include: Counseling, Job Search and Referral, Job Retention, as well as referrals to other services.
- Reside within the jurisdictional area
- Be a member of a federally recognized tribe
- Be either unemployed, underemployed, low income, recipient of a bona fide lay-off notice which had taken effect in the last six months or will take effect in the following six month period
- Employed but in need of employment and training services to rise to self-sufficiency
- If applicable, male applicants must register or be registered with Selective Service.
For the AVT program, in addition to the above eligibility criteria, applicant must be ΒΌ degree blood quantum of a federally recognized tribe.
