- Administers programs for Indian students from age three (3) through grade 12 who are ΒΌ or more degree Indian or a member of a federally recognized tribe.
- Serves the 14-county Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area and one county in southeast Kansas.
- Services are provided through In-School, Community Base, and Incorporated JOM programs.
- Training is provided for parent committees, school administration, school staff, and other educators through group and on-site workshops.

JOM Program Activities
The Cherokee Nation JOM Program firmly believes in encouraging American Indian student achievements, and challenges JOM students to excel academically, culturally, and creatively through JOM sponsored competitions and camps.

Public school systems contract JOM services through cooperative efforts between the Indian education committee and the school administration. The out-of-school programs are administered by an Indian education committee through the CN JOM program staff and are classified as community-based or incorporated.
Services are provided through In-School, Community Base, and Incorporated JOM programs.
JOM eligible students receive direct services through schools and community programs for :
- Required school items
- Supplemental services for staff
- Educational materials
- Cultural resources
- equipment
Training is provided for parent committees, school administration, school staff, and other educators through group and on-site workshops.
Parent Involvement
Parents are essential to JOM programs. Parents or persons acting in loco parentis for JOM students are involved in all aspects of the JOM Programs.
- Each program establishes a 5 member Indian education committee composed of parents or guardians of eligible JOM students.
- Parents are elected to serve 2 years.
- Indian Education committees:
- establish by-laws
- conduct regularly schedules meetings
- attend training
- assess, develop and evaluate programs
- approve program expenditures
- sponsor parent & community events

Training and enrichment for Indian education committees is provided through the Oklahoma JOM Conference, the JOM Mentor Program, and individual committee training
Technical Assistance
The Johnson O-Malley Program staff provides technical assistance through:
- training for school administrators
- community training for Indian education committees
- compliance monitoring
- current information on Indian issues
- state and national JOM workshops
