Cherokee Nation Tribal Loan Program

Tribal loan applications are available for all Tribal Members who have a Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card with the Cherokee Nation, and who reside within the Cherokee Nation’s jurisdictional boundaries. Tribal Credit Loans shall be made for the purpose of raising the social and economic status of Tribal members.

Interest rates vary, depending on the collateral offered, from 10% to 16%. Loan length is flexible depending on each applicant's personal financial situation. No maximum loan request has been set, rather approval amounts are determined by availability of funds (average loan amount is approximately $2,500). Collateral is required in an amount at least equal to the loan request amount.

Application

1. Complete ALL of the boxes on the application.
2. List all "Liabilities". This includes all types of payments made on a monthly basis.
3. Sign and date application.

Collateral

1. You will need to offer sufficient collateral to secure this loan. Submit a list with complete descriptions of collateral you offer.
2. Descriptions should include copies of deeds on property; copies of vehicle titles; other items of value (see application)

EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION

1. Complete the top section of the form.
2. Submit the form to your personnel department or supervisor for completion of bottom section of form.
3. If you are self-employed, or receive other types of assistance as your income, please provide current tax forms or letter from the agency from which you receive your support to verify your income.
4. Submit the form to your personnel department or supervisor for completion of bottom section of form.
5. All applicants, including co-signers will be required to submit a verification of employment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - TO BE SUBMITTED ALONG WITH APPLICATION

1. Copy of Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card
2. A brief written statement explaining the need of the loan.
3. Documentation supporting the need. (E.g., estimates, billing statements, etc.)

PROCESSING

1. Return all information to the Credit and Finance Department by noon on Monday.
2. Completed applications received by the deadline will be processed and reviewed by Credit Committee Members and generally receive an answer the same week (Thursday).
3. Any application submitted after noon on Monday will be reviewed by the Credit Committee the following week.
