Elder Services seeks to provide a comprehensive coordinated system of supportive and nutritional services to older Indian participants with the goal of improving the quality of life for Indian elders residing within the Cherokee Nation jurisdiction.
Program Components
Senior Nutrition Sites
Nutrition services are available at 15 community nutrition sites. Each site provides an Indian Elder (age 50+) and their spouse an opportunity for a nutritious meal and to participate in recreational activities which are planned by the elder participants. Meals are free for eligible participants; however participants may be asked if possible to make a donation for center operation.
For those eligible participants who are home bound, home delivered meals are available. A doctor' statement is required for home delivered meal participants. The following is information on site location, date and time of operation and the contact at each site.
SENIOR NUTRITION SITES
One major function of the program is nutrition services, which provides congregate and home delivered meals to elderly Indians in fourteen senior centers, also Elder Service Advocates are available to provide resource information and referrals to assist elderly who are in need of assistance. Below is information on Elder Senior Center sites and Elder Service Advocates locations.
