Cherokee Nation to Celebrate Women’s Health Week; Health Fair Set

The Cherokee Nation will be hosting several events to commemorate National Women’s Health Week May 12 – 16 at the tribe’s Three Rivers Health Center in Muskogee.  The Cherokee Nation will be hosting several events to commemorate National Women’s Health Week May 12 – 16 at the tribe’s Three Rivers Health Center in Muskogee.
MUSKOGEE, OK — The Cherokee Nation will host a Health Fair on Tuesday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Three Rivers Health Center, located at 1001 East 41 Street in Muskogee.  The Health Fair is part of a week-long celebration of National Women’s Health Week.
           Other events for the week include a Walk For Fitness on Monday, beginning at 10 a.m., Muskogee Mayor Wren Stratton and Miss Indian Oklahoma Jessica Moore will present a special program on Wednesday at 12 noon, and a special presentation by the Cherokee Nation Cancer Program on Friday at 12 noon along with a healthy lunch.
       National’s Women’s Health Week empowers women across the country to get healthy by taking action. The nationwide initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health (OWH), encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life. During the week, families, communities, businesses, government, health organizations and other groups work together to educate women about steps they can take to improve their physical and mental health and prevent disease.
       The Health Fair and the week-long activities are free and open to the public.
