Cherokee Heritage Center Hosts 37th Annual Trail of Tears Art Show and Sale
PARK HILL, Okla. - The Cherokee Heritage Center proudly hosts the 37th Annual Trail of Tears Art Show and Sale. The prestigious show will open on May 3 and will continue through May 26.
Sponsored by the Bank of Oklahoma, the show will bring together artists from across America to compete for the $1,500 Grand Prize award and more than $10,000 in total prize money. A panel of distinguished judges will determine the winners. However, patrons will also be allowed to submit their vote for the “People’s Choice” award. This award is based solely on the votes of those attending the show and is highly prized among the artists. Categories for this year’s show include Paintings, Sculpture, Pottery, Basketry, the “Trail of Tears” Theme and the very popular Miniature category, where artwork is not allowed to exceed four inches high by four inches wide.
This show is open to all artists around the country. All artwork will have a Native American theme and/or subject matter.
Although sales will begin with the opening of the show, artwork will not be released until after the May 26 exhibit closing. All artwork is for sale and is a fundraiser for the museum.
The Cherokee Heritage Center is open daily Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
