Cherokee Nation to Host Natural Resources Meeting

TAHLEQUAH, OK — The Cherokee Nation will host a community meeting to discuss natural resources on Tuesday, January 29, at 6 p.m., in the Tsa La Gi Community Room, located behind the Restaurant of the Cherokees at the tribal complex south of Tahlequah.

The focus of the meeting is to discuss the tribe’s forest and forest resources management. Each year the Cherokee Nation Natural Resource Department is required to submit a plan to the Bureau of Indian Affairs detailing the goals and objectives of the tribe’s forestry management program.

During the meeting staff members will explain the federal requirements of Tribal Forestry Management and request input from the public regarding issues that assist in better management of the country’s forest resources.

Interested parties should RSVP at (918) 453-5704 or email pgwin@cherokee.org.
