Cherokee Nation EMS Offering Emergency Training Courses

TAHLEQUAH-The Cherokee Nation will wrap up the year by offering several emergency medical training courses in the upcoming months. Courses will be offered at the Cherokee Nation Emergency Medical Services building located at 22114 South Bald Hill Road in Tahlequah.

Courses that will be offered are First Aid Training, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider class, CPR training, Swift Water Rescue class, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Emergency Vehicles Operators course and an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate class.

The one day First Aid Training course will begin at 9 a.m. on October 2, 10, 17, 23 and 30, November 6, 14 and 20 and December 4, 9 and 18. Cost for the one-day first aid class is $15

A one day course in Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider class will be offered on October 3 and 4, and December 5 and 6. Course cost is $125 plus book.

CPR Training Course will be held at 9 a.m. on October 8, 14, 21 and 28, November 4, 12, 18, and 25 and December 2, 11 and 16. The cost for this one-day course is $13.

Swift Water Rescue Technician 1 course will be offered on October 16, 17 and 18. Training the first day will be held at the EMS building and the second two days of training will be held in the water. Cost for the course is $175 plus equipment, which is due prior to the beginning of class. Retrain fee is $75.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support class will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 7 and 8. Cost of this two-day course is $125 plus book.

Emergency Vehicle Operator's course will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m on November 21 and 22. The first day of class will be spent in the classroom and the second day will be spent driving. Course cost is $35. Oklahoma State Department of Health and the Emergency Medical Services Division will award twelve CEU hours for completion of the course. This course is open only to those who currently drive an emergency response vehicle.

Emergency Medial Technician Intermediate Class will be taught every Tuesday evening beginning December 3 from 6- 10 p.m. Please call for detailed information on this course.

Cherokee Nation Emergency Medical Services is approved as a training agency by the Oklahoma State Health Department, Division of EMS. All courses are open to the public and will be held at the Cherokee Nation EMS building unless otherwise noted.
