Cherokee Nation Offers Entrepreneurs Selection of Small Business Loan Programs

TAHLEQUAH, Okla.— The Cherokee Nation is holding an informative and free workshop to spread the word about the small business loan programs available to the Nation’s entrepreneurs. The Cherokee Nation will conduct five of these workshops in February at various locations. 

The loans are available through the Cherokee Nation Economic Development Trust Authority. Over the course of the workshop, Cherokee Nation Entrepreneur Development Manager Veronica Hix will give prospective entrepreneurs information to help them pick what types of small business loans are best suited to their needs from the variety of programs available. Loan applications will be made available to attendees upon request.

Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the workshop will be held at the Cherokee Nation Housing Services office in Sallisaw, 260 W. Cherokee Ave., and then it comes to Jay, Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Jay Senior Housing Complex, 1301 W. Washbourne St.

During the following week, the workshop will be conducted at the Cherokee Nation Housing Services office, 1003 S. Virginia Ave., in Bartlesville on Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. It will be offered again on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Collinsville’s Housing Services office, 1323 W. Broadway St., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The workshop will be held again on Feb. 24 in Nowata from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Regency Bank Community Room, 105 N. Maple St.

Participants pay no fee but are required to preregister up until the day of the workshop either over the phone by calling 918-453-5536 or through e-mail at valerie-scraper@cherokee.org.
