Cherokee Nation employees named NextGen under 30 recipients

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Six Cherokee Nation employees were recently named 2018 NextGen under 30 recipients.
The annual award recognizes young professionals under 30 years of age who demonstrate the best in leadership, community service and professional achievements.
“Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Nation Businesses always seek out the most talented individuals possible for our workforce, and these employees, all Cherokee Nation citizens, are among the best and brightest in the state of Oklahoma,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker. “These honorees go above and beyond in their daily work, and they exemplify our Cherokee values of responsibility, community and accountability. We look forward to their continued growth and contributions to the Cherokee Nation and northeast Oklahoma.”
This year, more than 1,000 Oklahomans applied and less than 150 were selected. The 16 categories awarded ranged from arts to education and from finance to sports and fitness.
The 2018 Cherokee Nation recipients were nominated by the tribal administration and selected by a panel of respected Oklahoma business and civic leaders following a competitive application process.
Winners will attend a luncheon at the Oklahoma State Capitol on Monday, Oct. 1, and will also be honored at an awards ceremony in Norman on Friday, Nov. 2.
