TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Cherokee Nation Tribal Councilors appointed Dr. Gary Dan Davis to the Cherokee Nation Foundation’s board of directors at the December meeting Monday.
Davis, of Tahlequah, is the clinic administrator of the Cherokee Nation A-Mo Health Center in Salina and will serve on the board for the Cherokee Nation Foundation through December 2021.
“The Cherokee Nation Foundation was formed for the promotion of education to citizens of the Cherokee Nation, to provide educational assistance to our citizens and to promote and preserve our language, culture and history,” said Tribal Councilor Bryan Warner, who sponsored the legislation appointing Davis to the board. “I believe Mr. Davis will do well in upholding that mission over the next four years and will ensure we continue to help as many Cherokee students as possible in fulfilling their potential.”
Tribal Councilors also confirmed the reappointments of Carolyn Allen, of Tahlequah, to the Cherokee Nation Election Commission and Deacon Turner, of Tulsa, to the Cherokee Nation Businesses board of directors.
The next meeting of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council will be Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 6 p.m. at the W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex in Tahlequah.
