TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Parents who wish to apply for this year’s Angel Tree program at the Cherokee Nation can sign up Oct. 28 through Nov. 8.
The Cherokee Nation renamed its Angel Tree program to Angels of the Cherokee. The donation program provides gifts for Cherokee children who live within the 14-county tribal jurisdiction each holiday season. Employees and the community pick an angel ornament from a Cherokee Nation facility Christmas tree, which represents a child in the community and contains information about his or her Christmas wish list.
More than 2,000 children had holiday gifts through the program last year.
