Lady Indians to play in BOK hoops festival

The Sequoyah Lady Indians are slated to play the BOK Center in January

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Sequoyah Lady Indians will invade the home of the Tulsa Shock when they play the BOK Center this January.

The Sequoyah girls’ basketball team was selected to participate in the inaugural BOK High School Hoops Showcase. Taking the court against Sequoyah will be the Jay Lady Bulldogs.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime for our girls since not that many high school athletes get to play in a venue like the BOK Center,” said Sequoyah Schools’ Athletic Director Marcus Crittenden. “We hope to have Sequoyah fans turn out in full force in support of our Lady Indians. Having a big Sequoyah crowd to cheer on our kids will hopefully make it easier for the event organizers to decide to invite us back.”

The games, slated Jan. 18, will feature four girls’ and four boys’ contests. Fans will be able to watch all eight games for $10.

The Lady Indians recently completed summer team camps at the University of Arkansas and Oklahoma State University. All but one starter will return to the team.

Tickets for the BOK showcase will be available at a later date.
