Cherokee Nation accepting school clothing voucher applications


TAHLEQUAH, Okla. —Applications for the 2013 Clothing Support Program that helps families purchase new school clothes will be available starting July 1.

All children applying for the gift cards must be Cherokee citizens and living within the 14-county tribal jurisdiction, as well as meet income guidelines. To qualify, children must be in grades K-12 and parents must provide proof of school enrollment. Parents will also be required to provide income verification for all adults in the household.

Cherokee Nation employees will be at various field sites taking applications from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Once approved at the site, parents will receive a $100 gift card for each school-aged child within the household.

Dates and locations to apply are as follows:

July 1 –Salina Middle School cafeteria

July 2 –Claremore High School cafeteria

July 8 –Collinsville High School cafeteria

July 9 – Bartlesville community center

July 12 –Nowata High School  MOVED! Nowata Will Rogers Health Center

July 15 –Stilwell High School cafeteria

July 18 –Sallisaw High School cafeteria

July 19 –Fort Gibson High School main cafeteria

July 22 –Vinita High School cafeteria

July 25 – Jay community center

July 26 and 30 – Tahlequah, Sequoyah Schools’ The Place Where They Play upper level
