Keepseagle Settlement
"Keepseagle v. Vilsack was a lawsuit alleging that USDA discriminated against Native American farmers and ranchers in the way it operated its farm loan program. The lawsuit was settled late last year and the settlement has been approved by the court," according to the USDA.
USDA Settlement
According to a news release from the United States Department of Agriculture, Indian farmers and ranchers who were discriminated against when applying for loans from the USDA may now be eligible to participate in a settlement.
Cobell Settlement
The $3.4 billion settlement to the Indian trust fund lawsuit passed the House on Thursday, July 1, after being included in an appropriations measure. Section 5003 of H.R.4899 authorizes the settlement.
