"Building One Fire"

Labor Day Weekend,
August 31 through September 2, 2002

"Building One Fire" is the theme of the 50th Cherokee National Holiday, which is expected to bring more than 80,000 visitors and Cherokees to Tahlequah Labor Day weekend. The annual holiday commemorates the signing of the Cherokee Nation Constitution of Sept. 6, 1839.

Visitors may witness or participate in a variety of events ranging from the tradition-based to the modern and evolving.
