Language Lesson 2 of 3
Cherokee Nation has introduced a language curriculum for
use in schools. For the next few weeks, we will be presenting
some of the lessons from this program. The material does not
cover reading and writing in the Cherokee syllabary, but the
pronunciation of the words using the Roman alphabet.

LESSON TWO
- 1. I'm fine. (O-si-quo)
- 2. And you? (Ni-na?) (Ni-hi-na?)
II. Procedure:
The instructor will say the word and the students will repeat the word.
III.ACTIVITY:
- The students will color a picture about the lesson words.
- Students will role play a conversation using the lesson words. All students will participate in this activity.
- In penmanship exercises, the students will visualize and write the basic words.
MATERIAL: Colorsheet
IV. Enrichment Activities:
- 1. Repetition of the words, "O-si-quo." And "Ni-hi-na?"
- 2. Role playing using review words and adding today's lesson words.
- 3. Daily review of previous lesson(s).
- 4. Retention exercise: Read the words from flash cards.
- 5. Penmanship exercise. Write the words several times.
