Jackie Bob Martin resides in Stilwell and has lived in Adair County all of his life. He is bilingual and fluent in the Cherokee language. He is married to former Delores Isaacs, and they have three children.
Jackie Bob has worked for the Cherokee people for many years, serving on the board of directors for Adair County Indian Credit Association since 1985 and currently serves as vice president of the board. This association serves Cherokee people in the 14-county area of the Cherokee Nation.
In the Cherokee Nation elections held in 1995, he served as chairman of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Election Commission.
After completing his high school education Jackie Bob attended and graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan. He has owned and successfully operated a small business for many years. He has been an active member in the Stilwell First Baptist Church, where he serves as deacon and teaches a young adult Sunday school class. He is currently serving as chairman of deacons and has served on various and numerous committees.
Jackie Bob is active in the community, serving on the Stilwell School Board for seven years. He is a board member of the Eastern Workforce Development Board, Inc., housed in Muskogee, and serving people in Adair, Sequoyah, Cherokee, Wagoner, Muskogee, Okmulgee and McIntosh counties. This board is federally funded to assist in the development and marketing of human resources to increase employment and wages, while reducing dependency on public assistance.
If elected, he plans to become part-time in his business, and plans to become a full-time tribal council member.
