Has Bachelor's degree in business administration, major finance from Northeastern Oklahoma University, advisor to the Mayor's Indian Affairs Commission of Tulsa, reelected by the people for second 4-year term on the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council Tulsa and Washington counties. Former appointed Commissioner.
What are your qualifications for this position?
Resident of District 8, brought the first ever Indian Health Care and mobile health clinic to Tulsa and Washington counties. Fought for and received a Mobile Health Clinic which stops in Bartlesville and Collinsville every week. The clinic is free for all Cherokees. Brought to District 8 health services not based on income, such as free dentures, free eyeglasses and prescriptions. Fought for and received scholarships not based on income. Fought for 3.5 Million in appropriations that will help the Nowata Cherokee Health Clinic become a full fledged clinic. Won a landmark, Supreme Court Case, JAT 97-05, for reapportionment of the Cherokee districts. District 8 received an extra council member for Tulsa and Washington counties. We now have two council members for the 1999 election. Fought for and received 2 million in appropriations so we can have a Nurse Practitioner Clinics in Bartlesville, Vinita, and eventually one in Collinsville area. Supporter of the Cherokee Personal Vehicle Tags for District 8 no matter where you live in Tulsa and Washington Counties. Supporter of the Cherokee Constitution and three equal branches of government.
What is the role of tribal council in general and in relation to other tribal branches of government?
The tribal council is the Legislative branch of our government and is one of the three branches of "checks and balance" in our form of government.
Why do you believe you can make a difference and what are the top priorities of your campaign platform?
Priority #1 is getting more services to the Cherokee people in District 8. Priority #2 is to protect the Cherokee Nation Constitution. I have diligently worked on these priorities during my first and second term of office and I will continue to do so.
What are the biggest problems facing the Cherokee people today and what solution(s) do you propose?
The Biggest problem in District 8 Tulsa and Washington Counties is we need more services provided from the Cherokee Nation.
We need to continue to preserve our culture and language. We need to continue to expand our tribal sovereignty. We must support the Cherokee Nation Constitution and Cherokee laws.
