What makes us who we are? How does our history impact what the Cherokee Nation has become today? Here are some historical insites into how the Cherokee lived, what we did and what was and has remained important to us from our earliest days.

Cherokee Arts
The heritage of the Cherokee Nation is evident today in the survival of our traditional arts ranging from basket making to traditional clothing such as ribbon shirts and tear dresses. That heritage is alive and well today and is displayed in the way we work, the way we live and the way we play.

From making salt to barbecuing fish to the preparation of kanuchi and bean bread, you'll find traditional methods of preparing Cherokee foods here.

Language
This is the English/Cherokee Lexicon or word list. We don't use the word 'dictionary' since it does not give definitions of words; just the translation. This lexicon consists of over 7,000 words and will continue to be extended with more word listings.
